Lessons Are Everywhere ARound US
Just touched down after my first flight of 2024, and the journey was a helpful reminder that lessons are everywhere around us. We just have to open our eyes.
Here's what a single day of travel taught me:
Kindness Opens Doors: A smile, a thank you, or a simple act of generosity can go a long way. I witnessed how kindness literally opens doors, both figuratively and literally.
Laughter Defuses Tension: A little laughter can help prevent an emotionally charged situation from escalating. Trust me, it works wonders in the TSA line and beyond.
Connection is Key: From random chats waiting to board to a spontaneous group conversation, people crave connection. Opportunities to connect are all around us—just strike up a conversation.
Preparation is Everything: A little planning, whether it's packing ahead or allowing extra travel time, can turn stress into calm. Planning prevents stress.
Change Your Environment to Find Your Groove: Stuck in a creative rut? Change your surroundings. My writer's block vanished the moment I stepped onto the plane. Sometimes, a change of scenery is all you need.
Unplug to Recharge: Three hours without phone or internet on the plane was a helpful reset. Take time to unplug; it's a refresh button for the mind.
And most importantly...Embrace Change: Change is inevitable, so instead of fighting it, why not embrace it? Things may feel different yet strangely the same. Take a cue from LaGuardia Airport—change can be for the best.
